From Air, Through the Wind
For Bb Clarinet and Piano
Duration: 5'30"
Instrumentation:
Bb Clarinet
Piano
About the Work:
From Air, Through the Wind (2025) does not depict anything in particular. Instead, I let the music lead me. It begins with a single note played only on the mouthpiece and barrel. The air is gently blown into the instrument, and sound slowly emerges, much like a flower blooming as the warm spring breeze touches it. The wind carries the note, swaying it through the air. As the wind grows stronger, so does the sound, building in intensity until it reaches its peak. Suddenly, it dissapears, leaving the sound to die away into silence.
Performance:
Premiered at the Royal Academy of Music on 22 October 2025 by Jacob Jordan (clarinet) and Vitas Li (piano).
